A Jaipur-based company has made a robot to eliminate the loss of lives resulting due to the manual cleaning of sewage drains and septic tanks. It is the first of a kind robot that is powered by solar energy to avoid manual scavenging. This development also comes in the aftermath of a notice of the Delhi High Court on the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers.
According to the Managing Director of the company, they have installed a camera in the gadget with a GPS facility and 19 gas detection sensors. The Managing Director further added that the company has also invented a multi-purpose robot for rescue operations, firefighting, agriculture, and defense. This device can manage a load of around 300 kg at a time.
